ABOUT

Aldom Transport Engineering
ALDOM Transport Engineering – Capability Statement

Aldom was established in 1975, by two work colleagues, Albert and Dominic who identified that individuals and businesses were trying to find someone that could either bring their ideas to light or solve very specific transport vehicle problems.  These same people complained that the existing motor body businesses were not interested in helping and Albert and Dominic formed Aldom Motor Body Builders, the original business name.

Aldom is wholly and proudly, Australian owned employing 50 people across design, engineering, fabrication, repair, maintenance, logistics and a dedicated Defence Division that provides Defence clients with a direct conduit to its business.

Our business is built around three key activities Fabrication, Repair, and Modification (FRM) combined with its long history of the assembly of light, medium and heavy transportation.  The business is based in Wingfield, South Australia and operates from a large 17,000 m2 site, with two undercover buildings totaling 5000 m2 and is ideally located near road, sea, and rail connections.  With two 10 tonne Overhead Gantry Cranes, ALDOM Transport Engineering capabilities include a highly experienced engineering team, cutting, welding, punching, folding, and painting.

ALDOM Transport Engineering draws from its history and experience and uses its imagination and creativity to fabricate, repair, modify and design to customer requirements.

Using the highly regarded design software AutoCad used for designing and creating new items, and Inventor to test a solution in motion, our team strives to make ideas come to life. In the case of repairs, ALDOM Transport Engineering’s highly qualified repairers know that no business can afford to have their transport vehicles off the road for lengthy periods of time they endeavour to get these vehicles back on the road as soon as possible!  Whether it’s an extended trailer body, addition or upgrading of extras like handrails, steps or gates on military trucks, shortening of a mining industry truck body, strengthening of a refrigerated truck chassis, a new racing car transporter, a sophisticated horse float, mobile kitchen, mobile accommodation unit for far Northern Australia, mobile laboratory or mobile medical center for the APY lands, a tipper for the waste disposal sector, Aldom has an innovative solution for its customer’s needs and is ready to discuss your requirements and ideas with you.

  • All welding carried out by Aldom is certified to Australian / New Zealand standards. A Quality Management System (QMS) is in place for welding in which Aldom Senior Welding Supervisor visually checks welding to ensure that it satisfies the welding quality requirement. The welding is then signed off through a document process by the Aldom Compliance Manager.  Depending on customer requirements, Aldom can call on its welding inspectors to conduct stress testing and other relevant testing that is required.  For this Aldom uses its in-house welding test capabilities which enable verification of welding work.

For Painting:

We specialise in high quality 2 Pack Polyurethane Finishes in matt, satin and gloss.

We have two spray painting booths each system being fully compliant to Australian Standards:

  • Booth Number 1 – Fitted with integrated lighting and exhaust system, the booth is designed to allow spray painting of units up to 9.1m (30ft) in length.
  • Booth Number 2 – Fitted with integrated lighting and exhaust system, the booth is designed for units up to 15.2m (50ft) in length.

So, what happens when the fabrication, repairs or modifications are completed?  We have the onsite capability to certify the work to Australian Heavy Vehicle standard, compliant with Australia’s ADR requirements.
